The TILE HOUSE RENOVATION

The prerenovation tile on the front of the house was around 20 years old. The house had old wood
sash windows which led to some instability and deterioration of the mosaic around them.
The tile began to pull away from the house itself, leaving opportunity for moisture to
penetrate behind the tile and create an ongoing problem.
In the spring 2006 we began the renovation. The Tile House is getting a face lift!
We scraped all the existing tile off the front face of the house, removed paint with a
sandblaster and grinder, installed brand new windows and resurfaced the entire area
with a latex based mortar, appropriate for tile bondage. Rubbings were made of the existing
pattern, so the design was matched as closely as possible. We expect the project to be
completed within two years of the starting date of spring 2006.
